ADJAmman Marka International Airport · Levant
Marka is downtown Amman's GA-dedicated airport — 15 minutes from the King Hussein business district vs. 45 minutes from Queen Alia.
OJAM exists for proximity. King Hussein Medical Centre, the Royal Court, and the diplomatic quarter are all within 15 minutes of Marka, while Queen Alia (OJAI) is 35 km south. LFS bases at Arab Wings FBO because the field's dual-use civil/military regime requires day-of coordination: military slots take priority, and the Royal Jordanian Air Force operates from the same apron during VIP rotations.
Operations notes
OJAM has one runway (06/24) at 2,255 m — long enough for super-mid jets (Challenger 605/650, Falcon 2000, Citation Longitude) but performance-marginal for large-cabin types in summer. Field elevation (2,555 ft) compounds hot-and-high; LFS computes runway-required delta on every large-cabin departure from May through September.
The Arab Wings FBO complex has six GA stands with direct customs walkway. Military priority is real — RJAF King Air, S-70, and Hercules movements can trigger 15–30 minute ground holds on short notice. LFS monitors RJAF schedule via CARC liaison.
Jordan e-Visa applies to 100+ nationalities. Customs at Marka is faster than Queen Alia due to lower volume — sub-8-minute clearance is routine.
No civil slot coordination. Military movements take priority; LFS de-conflicts day-of through CARC liaison. Peak demand windows (08:00–10:00 LT for Royal Court traffic) are accommodated by stand pre-booking.
Jordan e-Visa supports most nationalities; visa-on-arrival is available for ad-hoc. Crew clearance sub-5 minutes, passenger clearance 8–12 minutes. Cabotage rules are non-restrictive for non-revenue movements.
Jet A-1 supplied by Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company (JPRC) via bowser. Pricing tracks Med-region platts with Jordanian fuel tax. LFS releases fuel within 45 minutes of upload request.
Four Seasons Amman, Fairmont Amman, and St Regis Amman are 10–15 minutes from Marka. LFS arranges airside escort. Jordan e-Visa permits stays up to 90 days.
Weather & seasonal factors
Mediterranean continental climate. Hot, dry summer (Jun–Sep surface temperatures 35°C, occasionally 40°C). Winter snow events (Dec–Feb) can close the field for 24–48 hours; LFS pre-files OJAI as alternate. CAT I ILS supports recovery in normal conditions.

Why use Marka instead of Queen Alia?
Downtown proximity — 15 minutes to the business district vs. 45 minutes from OJAI.
Can a Global 6000 / G650 land at OJAM?
Yes for landing; departure is performance-marginal in summer. LFS computes runway-required delta and may recommend OJAI departure with ground reposition.
Are military movements a significant constraint?
Intermittent — typically 1–2 ground holds per week, 15–30 minutes. LFS de-conflicts through CARC liaison.
Is Jordan e-Visa sufficient for crew?
Yes for 100+ nationalities. LFS uses visa-on-arrival as backstop.
