What this page covers
Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) is the ground handling company at Bahrain International Airport. Hala Bahrain is its meet-and-assist and premium passenger service. LFS is independent of both: we are a trip-support and dispatch company with our duty desk in Bahrain, and we book and coordinate BAS and Hala services for operators, together with the permits, fuel and crew logistics around the flight.
Commercial handling is arranged via BAS, and VIP and fast-track via Hala Bahrain. AOG, sports charter such as the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix, and technical-stop turnarounds are all covered by the same desk.
If you are looking for BAS or Hala Bahrain directly, for jobs, retail bookings or corporate information, please contact them. This page is for operators planning flights.
Bahrain International Airport (OBBI / BAH)
Bahrain International on Muharraq Island is the kingdom's only international airport. It handles scheduled airlines, cargo, charter and business aviation in one place, so every movement shares the same ramp, terminal and authority processes. Station detail is on Bahrain OBBI ground handling and private jet ground handling in Bahrain.
Ramp handling through BAS
For each flight we send BAS a single request built from your schedule and aircraft details. Typical service lines include:
- Arrival and departure ramp handling, marshalling and parking
- Ground power, air start, pushback and towing where needed
- Baggage handling and passenger processing
- Lavatory and potable water service
- Cargo acceptance and loading coordination
- Catering delivery coordination with your chosen caterer
VIP, fast-track and CIP through Hala Bahrain
Hala Bahrain provides meet-and-assist services such as escort through arrival and departure formalities, fast-track and lounge access. We book these with the passenger names, flight times and any special requirements, and align them with the ramp handling and chauffeur so passengers are met at the right place and time.
For more detail on passenger arrangements, see Bahrain meet and assist. Availability of specific services depends on the airport and provider on the day.
Why a Bahrain-based desk helps
LFS runs its 24/7 duty desk from Bahrain. For flights into Bahrain International, that means the team arranging your trip works in the same time zone as the handler and airport, and can follow up directly when timings change. It does not change the approval process: parking, handling and permissions are still confirmed by the airport, BAS and the authorities.
What LFS adds around the handling
Permits
Bahrain landing and overflight permissions from the Civil Aviation Affairs authority, and permits for the rest of the route. See flight support in Bahrain and overflight permits.
Fuel
Jet A-1 uplift booked ahead of arrival, with the fuel release on the trip sheet, through aviation fuel services.
Crew logistics
Hotels, transport and entry questions for crew, through crew logistics. Entry rules depend on nationality and are confirmed before departure.
Technical stops and AOG
Bahrain's position in the Gulf makes it a useful technical stop on routes between Europe, Asia and Africa. A quick tech stop needs fuel, handling and, where required, crew and passenger arrangements booked in advance and confirmed against the planned time on the ground. See technical stop support.
For aircraft on ground situations, the desk can request handling, parking and logistics for engineers and parts outside office hours. What can be arranged depends on the airport, handler and authorities at the time.
Event traffic: Bahrain Grand Prix and other peaks
Around the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix and other major events, business aviation and charter traffic rises sharply. Parking, slots and VIP services can become limited, and requests often need more notice. We recommend sending event flights as early as possible, with firm passenger numbers and a clear plan for how long the aircraft will stay. If the aircraft cannot park for the full event, we explain the options, such as drop-and-go and repositioning.
How a request works
1. Send the flight details
Aircraft type and registration, schedule, routing, passenger names for VIP services, cargo details and the services you need.
2. We check and book
We request BAS handling and any Hala Bahrain services, check or file permits and book fuel, chauffeur and hotels where needed.
3. You receive one confirmation
A trip sheet with handling, parking, passenger services, permit status and fuel, updated in writing if anything changes.
Information that speeds up a Bahrain request
Complete requests are confirmed faster. Please include the aircraft's maximum take-off weight, exact passenger and crew numbers, passenger names and nationalities for meet-and-assist, any passengers needing assistance, the catering order, fuel quantity and the planned time on the ground. For cargo, include weights, dimensions and any dangerous goods.
Crossing the causeway: Bahrain and the Eastern Province
Bahrain is linked to Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province by the King Fahd Causeway, and some passengers choose to land in Bahrain and continue by road, or the reverse. When a trip involves both countries, we look at which airport suits the passengers, the aircraft and the permits best, and coordinate ground transport across the border where that is part of the plan. Border formalities depend on each passenger's nationality and are their responsibility to confirm, but we point out anything that could affect the timing.
For flights that continue into Saudi Arabia by air, we arrange the Saudi permits and handling alongside the Bahrain leg so the whole routing is planned together.
Changes on the day
Business aviation schedules often change. When an arrival time moves, the ramp, meet-and-assist, chauffeur and fuel all need to move with it. Because the LFS desk is in Bahrain, we can update BAS, Hala Bahrain and the other providers together and confirm the new timings back to your crew in writing. If a change cannot be accommodated, for example because parking or a service is not available at the new time, we explain why and suggest the nearest workable option so your team can decide quickly.
Cargo and special loads
Cargo flights through Bahrain need weights, dimensions, loading equipment and any dangerous goods declared before the flight. We confirm acceptance with the handler and airport before the operation is planned around it. Decisions on special cargo rest with the airport, the handler and the authorities.
Costs and invoicing
Handling and passenger service charges are set by the providers and the airport and depend on aircraft size, services used and time on the ground. We do not publish fixed prices. You receive an estimate when we review the request; the final invoice reflects the services provided. Credit account holders can receive handling, fuel and permits on one LFS invoice.
Who uses this service
Business aviation operators, charter companies, sports and event charters, cargo operators, airlines needing ad hoc support and brokers who want one contact for Bahrain.
For neighbouring countries, see Saudi Ground Services handling and all handling partners.
