Identify Hamad International, not just Doha
Hamad International Airport uses DOH as its IATA code and OTHH as its ICAO code. Doha International is a separate airport with a different ICAO identifier. An operator asking for Doha aircraft ground handling should identify Hamad explicitly on the request, flight schedule and permission documents. A city-only instruction can cause confusion in passenger transport, supplier releases and airport processing, especially when a previous trip used a different facility.
This page concerns handling coordination at OTHH. For country-level permission questions, use the Qatar overflight and landing permit guide. For other airports and the wider itinerary, see Qatar flight support. Do not assume that a service arrangement, parking acceptance or supplier release issued for one Doha airport also covers the other. A change of airfield needs to be reconciled across the flight plan, permissions and ground-support file.
Airport operator, handler and LFS responsibilities
Hamad's published airline start-up checklist distinguishes the airport operator's requirements, Qatar Civil Aviation Authority landing rights, slot confirmation and the appointment of a handling provider. It names Qatar Aviation Services for passenger, aircraft, baggage and related handling. That public reference identifies a provider role; it is not proof of a particular LFS contract, an exclusive relationship or acceptance of every aircraft and request.
LFS coordinates the requested support with the organisations responsible for delivery and approval. The operator should obtain a written handling confirmation naming the appointed provider, accepted service scope, contact details and commercial terms. If the flight already uses an airline or operator handling agreement, disclose it and identify the additional services requested. This prevents a new support request from duplicating existing bookings or assuming that the operator's agreement covers services it has not ordered.
Building the Hamad ramp-service request
Start with aircraft type, registration, flight category, arrival and departure times, and expected ground duration. Request ground power, air conditioning, stairs, towing or pushback, water and lavatory service according to the aircraft's requirements. The handler must confirm compatible equipment and the agreed stand arrangements. A business jet, a narrow-body passenger flight and a wide-body operation do not necessarily use the same facilities or service sequence.
Passenger needs should be described clearly: headcount, baggage, mobility assistance, catering and any requested lounge or separate processing. Do not presume that airline terminal processes automatically cover an ad-hoc corporate movement. If the operation is a technical stop with passengers staying on board, ask the handler to confirm the applicable procedures. Changes in passenger numbers or aircraft type can affect transport and equipment bookings even when the requested airport time remains unchanged.
Qatar permissions and airport-time coordination
Landing rights, slot acceptance and handling appointment are distinct checkpoints in the airport's published operator guidance. LFS can help assemble and coordinate the request, but the relevant authority and airport determine acceptance. An overflight approval is not a landing approval, and a filed ATC flight plan does not replace either. Provide the operator identity, registration, routing, purpose and schedule consistently to avoid an application based on outdated details.
This guide does not publish competing fixed approval windows or a guaranteed urgent clearance time. Requirements depend on the operation, document completeness and current authority procedures. Submit early, identify urgency and record any approved changes. The Qatar permit page explains the documentation review, while slots and PPR coordination covers airport-time and access questions. Departure planning should rely on confirmed references rather than an estimate copied from a previous trip.
Parking and ground-duration acceptance
Provide the aircraft's full planned stay, not only its arrival time. Overnight parking, a short fuel stop and a multi-day passenger visit require different acceptance checks. Ask where the aircraft is expected to park, whether repositioning or towing is required and which attendance arrangements apply. A handler's acknowledgement of an enquiry is not the same as the airport accepting the aircraft for the entire requested duration.
For schedule changes, review departure timing and parking together. If a passenger visit extends, confirm whether the aircraft can remain and whether additional fees or equipment bookings apply. If the aircraft must move, communicate the new crew reporting and passenger transport points. A practical trip plan links each parking decision to the accepted handling scope; it does not infer unlimited apron access from an airport's operating hours or size.
Runway information and dispatch assessment
The Qatar AIP is the operational reference for Hamad runway dimensions, declared distances, pavement information and procedures. Current NOTAMs can modify the available facilities or operating conditions. This page does not reuse inconsistent runway figures from earlier templates or turn an airport dimension into a maximum-weight acceptance statement. The crew and operator should work from the current aeronautical publication and their approved performance data.
Aircraft suitability also depends on temperature, wind, runway condition, obstacles, configuration and stand or equipment constraints. A runway described as long does not establish that a wide-body aircraft can depart at maximum weight in every condition. Flight planning and dispatch support can complement the preparation of the trip, but operational control and the performance decision remain with the operator. Ask for airport and handler acceptance separately from the dispatch calculation.
Jet A-1 uplift at Doha
For OTHH fuel support, state the requested uplift quantity, unit, aircraft registration and the intended fuelling time. Provide an existing fuel card or supply agreement if one is to be used, and ask for acceptance by the actual supplier. Fuel availability, release validity and the delivery slot need to align with the accepted airport and handling schedule rather than being assumed from a generic service list.
Request a quote that explains the price basis, currency, taxes and into-plane or other fees. Published historic rates are not a live offer for your date. The operator determines required fuel and reserves; the ground team confirms delivery arrangements. Notify changes to aircraft, date or uplift quantity so the release can be revised. Keep the fuel delivery record and invoice reference with the trip file for later reconciliation against the accepted commercial terms.
Crew entry, rest and ground transport
Crew arrangements should reflect whether people remain airside, enter Qatar, change crews or stay overnight. Send relevant nationality, document and itinerary information through the agreed request channel. Entry eligibility must be reviewed for the individual crew member and movement; do not infer a universal crew visa exemption. Ask the handler for the accepted arrival processing and departure reporting locations before booking transfers.
The crew logistics service can coordinate hotel and transport requests around rest requirements, room numbers and actual flight times. State any late check-in, extended stay or early departure needs. Ground transport should use the correct Hamad meeting point and accommodation address, not simply Doha airport as a pickup description. If the schedule changes, revise rooms and vehicles together and give the crew one current contact for the confirmed arrangements.
Medical movements and special assistance
For a medevac or other medically supported flight, explain the aviation requirements and identify the clinical coordinator. Stretcher transfer, aircraft-door access, ambulance positioning and passenger assistance need agreement between the handler, transport provider and medical team. A request for airside ambulance access is not an approval. Patient details should only be shared when necessary and through an appropriate agreed channel.
A medical priority does not remove permit, immigration, parking or safe-handling requirements. Ask for the relevant organisations' acceptance and an achievable ground sequence rather than a universal immediate-turn promise. The Middle East medevac page describes the support role, while the operator and treating team retain responsibility for patient carriage and clinical decisions. Reconfirm ground transport whenever the medical departure schedule changes.
What to send for a Doha handling quotation
Use the LFS request form to provide aircraft registration and type, operator identity, route, UTC schedule, flight purpose, passenger and crew counts and parking duration. Include ground-equipment needs, fuel quantity, catering, passenger assistance, hotel and transfer requirements. Attach or identify existing permissions and accepted airport-time references so the review can distinguish completed tasks from requests still needing action.
Ask for the proposed provider, itemised charges, exclusions, cancellation conditions and a summary of provisional versus confirmed arrangements. Before departure, reconcile the airport code, registration and dates across the permission file, accepted schedule, handling confirmation and fuel release. A practical Doha plan should also record who handles amendments and how crew can reach the agreed ground contact. These checks are more useful than a fixed generic turnaround figure or an unsupported promise that all services are available without notice.
Doha flight-support questions
Who provides ground handling at Hamad International?
Hamad International’s published operator checklist names Qatar Aviation Services for handling. Your trip still needs a confirmation identifying the appointed provider and accepted services. LFS coordinates support; the public checklist does not establish an exclusive LFS relationship.
Does an accepted airport slot confirm Qatar landing rights?
No. The airport guidance treats slot confirmation, landing rights and handler appointment separately. Keep all relevant approvals and service confirmations aligned with the registration, purpose and schedule.
Can OTHH runway length guarantee maximum-weight operation?
No. Use the current Qatar AIP and NOTAMs with the operator’s approved performance data. Aircraft configuration, weather, declared distances and other restrictions matter; airport and handler acceptance are separate checks.
What notice is needed for a Doha medical flight?
Submit the full request as early as possible and flag its urgency. No universal approval time is guaranteed. Permissions, aircraft access, ambulance arrangements and the handler’s service acceptance must be checked for the actual movement.
