Ground Supervision & Station Representation

A set of eyes on the ramp when the turnaround matters too much to trust to a phone call.

Most turnarounds run on a handling agent's own schedule and a crew's own judgement, and that is usually enough. It stops being enough on a VIP movement, a tight connection, an aircraft type the local handler rarely sees, or a station where things have gone wrong before. What changes the outcome is not more paperwork — it is a person on the ramp who represents your operation rather than the handler's.

LFS arranges ground supervision through vetted providers at the station, subject to local confirmation and lead time. The representative meets the aircraft, confirms the handling plan against what was actually ordered, watches the milestones — chocks, doors, fuelling, catering, baggage, push-back — and escalates immediately if any of them slips. For crew, that means someone to meet them at the aircraft steps, walk them through immigration and security where required, and handle anything that needs a local voice: a missing visa stamp, a gate change, a hotel transport that has not shown up.

The representative reports back through the same duty desk that files your permits and dispatch, so a delay noticed on the ramp becomes a re-plan decision within minutes rather than a phone call that goes unanswered. Where the turnaround did not go to plan — a ground damage event, a late handler, a missed catering delivery — a short incident report is produced with times, parties involved and photographs where appropriate, so you have a record rather than a recollection.

This is representation, not replacement: the handling agent still performs the services on the ramp, and the station representative supervises and reports rather than operating equipment. Scope is agreed before the trip — full turnaround attendance, crew meet-and-assist only, or a watching brief with reporting by exception — and priced accordingly.

What LFS arranges
Station representation
A local representative at the aircraft for the turnaround, arranged through a vetted provider at the station.
Crew assistance
Meet-and-assist at the steps, immigration and security walk-through, and a local point of contact for anything unplanned.
Handler oversight
The handling plan checked against what was ordered, not assumed, with discrepancies raised on the spot.
Milestone reporting
Chocks, doors, fuelling, catering and push-back timed and reported back to your operations desk as they happen.
Incident reports
A written record with times, parties and evidence when the turnaround did not go to plan.
Deliverables
  • Pre-trip briefing confirming the handling plan, scope and station contact details
  • Live milestone updates during the turnaround (chocks, doors, fuelling, catering, push-back)
  • Written incident report with timeline and evidence for any irregularity
  • Post-trip summary for the trip file
Where we deliver it
Worldwide

At every airport, worldwide. LFS-operated stations are staffed by our own teams; everywhere else the service is delivered through agents we have vetted and audited, coordinated by the same LFS duty desk so you deal with one operations contact rather than a chain of suppliers.

Frequently asked
Does LFS provide the station representative directly?
At LFS-operated hubs, yes. Elsewhere we arrange supervision through a vetted local provider, subject to availability and confirmation before the trip.
Can supervision be booked for a single turnaround only?
Yes — most requests are for one trip, one station. Standing coverage for a recurring schedule can also be arranged.
Who is liable if the handler makes an error during a supervised turnaround?
The handling agent remains responsible for the services it performs; the station representative's role is oversight and reporting, confirmed in the scope agreed before the trip.
How much notice does ground supervision need?
Lead time depends on the station and provider availability; request as early as possible, and we will confirm what short-notice coverage exists.
